here's my gripe…

another date night bites the dust

i wasn’t even sure there’d be a date night tonight. first, because my parents had taken the kids for most of the afternoon wednesday and a lot of times that gives my dad reason to not want to get together or see us or whatever, the next time we’d see them. since the next time would be friday when they usually watch the kids, i kind of expected him to suggest we cancel it for this week.

then thursday morning i was coming out of the kitchen and i stepped on an old hair clip that my kids commandeered as a toy. monster man they called it. anyway, i stepped on it, breaking it and taking a pea-sized chunk out of the arch of my foot. it is still so sore. hubby had wanted to go to the celtic festival, but my stupid injury ruined those plans.

instead, we decided to go to a new greek place near where we used to live. it was actually really nice, though the inside had a very fast food-y look to it. we decided to run a few errands while we were out and it was still early. i know, so romantic, right? i wasn’t doing too bad with my foot at this point, but i was walking a bit slower.

when we got done with that, it was coffee time! for me, it’s not really date night without stopping at the bookstore and having a coffee at the cafe there. we were about three steps into the bookstore when we heard it. what, you ask? the unmistakable sounds of the legendary eric loy.

truthfully, i am really surprised that hubby didn’t want to turn around and walk out as soon as we realized it was him. we hate this guy. except we seem to be the only people who hate this guy. he actually has groupies! i don’t know, maybe all the times sitting so close to this guy’s amp, they can no longer hear how awful he is. we didn’t take this video, but i’ve been telling hubby for a couple months now that we should bring the p&s camera so we can video him playing and our making the disparaging remarks we always make. he finally agreed tonight because poor mr. loy’s amp died in the middle of one of his songs. unfortunately, it wasn’t while he was playing this song nor did it stay dead for more than a couple minutes. *sigh*

we finally decided we couldn’t take it anymore and we left to take a bit of a drive. the photo above was taken during this drive about.

yeah, that’s about it. heh.
