Sam the Cat continued…
Mrs. Anderson arrived at about two-thirty pm with the cats, hoping to brighten someone’s day. The first room she walked into was Mr. Clemens. He was lying there asleep. Sam jumped from her arms and on the bed of Mr. Clemens. He woke up seeing her eyes and knew quickly who it was. She purred with joy at seeing her owner again. Like a miracle, he got up for the first time in months and danced around the room. The kittens ran around the room, too. Everyone was excited. Mrs. Anderson asked if he knew the cats. He said yes, he used to take care of them until he was evicted for not being able to pay the rent. She thought about it for a while and told him she would be back soon with another surpise. He didn’t hear her, he was too happy. He got some cat food and fed them. He even had the bed Sam slept in when she was younger. He ate solid food for the first time in a long time, too! He couldn’t believe his eyes. Sam was really there with him. He was so glad to see her and the kids.
Sam meowed with happiness because she was home. Not home, attic, but home in Mr. Clemens heart. She belonged with him.
Mrs. Anderson came back the next day to ask him an important question. She walked in and came right up to his bed and asked him if he would like to live with her and her two girls as a guest for as long as he liked. He thought about it for a while and decided he would. She was happy. He moved in the next day, he helped around the house and in the garden. He grew older in years but younger in heart.
Sam couldn’t believe she saw her owner washing dishes. She and her kittens grew to a ripe old age. So did Mr. Clemens.
You probably expect a fairy tale ending, so I will give it to you.
And they lived Happily Ever After!
The End!
